About Me

In a nutshell

Since 2003 I've played with words for various organisations, in various genres, and on various topics.

Connecting words into meaningful sentences, paragraphs and stories is my passion.  Travel writing and children's stories are my two favourite things to write.

But with experience in the engineering and construction sector, political sphere, and the defence, education, health, automotive, entertainment and agricultural industries, I can easily and quickly adapt any written material for any industry or topic.

What all this means for you, is that I have the skills and experience to write just about anything, for just about anyone.  From a simple letter calling for sponsorship, to a 20-minute speech or presentation, a government funding or grant submission, or even a specialised blog - I can help you get results.

The nuts and bolts

Published writer

I've travelled extensively throughout Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America, and in 2011 I started to write travel blogs for Allianz Insurance about my exploits.  It fired a passion for the love of travel writing and I did a couple of online courses from the Australian Writers' Centre

Since then, I've been published in Wild, Caravan & Camping With Kids, On The Road, Great Walks, Unsealed 4X4, RV Daily, Paradise (Air Nuigini's inflight magazine), Silkwinds (Silk Air's inflight magazine) 4WD Touring, The Big BusOut & About With Kids,  Go Camping and 4WD Adventures, Get Up & Go, Beer and Brewer, Sprout, The Top Ender, and The Wagga Way.
In 2017 I met the requirements of becoming an Associate Member of the Australian Society of Travel Writers.
I've also written content for clients such as Wotif InsiderQueensland Tourism, TFE Hotels, and Choice Hotels.

I love all aspects of travel - the planning, the destination, adventure, camping, luxurious, romance, finding the unexplored places, and travelling with little people.

I am always looking out for good travel stories to pitch to various magazines.  So, perhaps you are in the holiday industry and would like an independent story written on your tour, hotel, or destination.  Get in touch with me and pitch your ideas.

Aside from travel writing, I also love penning a human interest tale, and exploring parenting issues, sustainable living and eating, and military history and current issues for Defence members.

I'm also keen to write picture books for children, so when inspiration strikes I put pen to paper to get those ideas down!

Media and government relations

Throughout my career I've worked with both a Federal Member for Parliament and as a contractor to State Government Infrastructure departments.  In these roles, I undertook various tasks including writing and editing media releases, newsletters, speeches and other communications collateral.

At every point liaison with all levels of government was necessary and this has given me a unique insight to how goverments work and how they like to communicate the written word.  It has also given me a terrific understanding of what deparments look for in funding and grant submission applications.

Community engagement

Keeping the community informed and involved in activities and projects that may impact on them is critical in securing support and in determining key issues.  Through my work with egineering companies and State Goverment departments, I have successfully communicated with various members of the public through letters, newsletters, flyers and website copy.

Marketing consultation

Marketing takes in so many mediums - copywriting for radio and television commercials, and print advertisements, planning an implementing social media marketing, website content, search engine optimisation (SEO), and competitions.  Ensuring content and key messaging is consistent across all mediums is another critical component for success.
